Came looking for grandparents, found a great adventure!  – I contacted Kjetil some months ahead of my trip to Tromso. My mother survived cancer twice; we had been talking for years about going to Tromso to see the place… read more her grandmother was born (Dafjord). It looked pretty far from Tromso, so I decided to look for a tour.

Kjetil picked us up from our vacation rental and took us on an adventure!

I had sent him a link to a genealogy site that had information about my mother’s family. He took this information and not only found a family home still standing but narrowed down the family place to 2 possibilities! When we arrived he spoke with the people who live there now and they had a picture of the village as it looked in the early 20th century!

Kjetil answered all our questions about the local area, past and present. He was very knowledgeable. He was so kind to us that my mother told family stories I had never heard before (such as that my 2nd great grandfather had died while fishing on the North Sea). He provided a lunch and hot drink for us and he was kind and helpful. Ours was a very different experience from most of the other people but I highly recommend him.

Kjetil was very understanding, even the fact that we were not able to book a tour with him in advance didn’t put him off. In the end he offered us a short tour with his guide Alex to a close destination in a time frame he thought would be the best, all very short notice!

Besides a lovely knowledgeable guide and a comfortable and safe car, we got just the flexible tour we needed as it was manageable for our kids! Best part of it, we did manage to see the northern lights and still can’t really believe it😊

I would highly recommend the Arctic Drive to everyone, but especially to families as both Kjetil and Alex did help to make the trip enjoyable for all of us!!

nice driving tour and great Snow Mobile FUN!  – we made arrangements to be taken for a drive thru the area and fjords around the islands. We had a great English speaking guide and comfortable vehicle. they… read more arranged for us to take a private boat ride thru the fjord back to Tromso.
We also went out on snow mobiles with them. They are one of the few companies that takes you 2 hours drive over to Finland where you can snow mobile more FREELY we went over the frozen lakes and thru the woods the the point where the 3 countries meet and had tea and cookies before heading back to the base Arctic Drive arranged it all with hotel pick up and drop off. All went as planned

He was also incredibly knowledgeable about the region and all in all, great company. I would highly recommend the Artic Drive. Having a private tour allowed us flexibility to move around and get the best spot and the ‘drive’ – what a car! Thanks guys.
